How to Clean Bathroom Exhaust Fans: 8 Step Guide

Bathroom exhaust fans can get nasty over time. They can collect dust and other bacteria, making it not only an ugly site, but a health issues. Make sure you’re cleaning your exhaust fans regularly.

  1. Remove the fan vent cover & simply clean it in the sink with a sponge and dish soap

  2. Unclip fan or flip breaker (some fans will have a plug behind the cover which you can just unplug)

  3. Vacuum bathroom fan with brush attachment

  4. Remove the bathroom exhaust fan

  5. Disconnect electrical wires

  6. Cover the motor with a plastic bag

  7. Reinstall bathroom fan

  8. Check the exterior fan cover
